Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP) Event $40M of Assistance

The Government of Canada recently announced a new $40 Million program to help companies commercialize new innovations in the fields of Environment, Health, Safety and Security, and Enabling Technologies. If you would like to know more about the Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP), please attend one of the two Innovation Forums on Oct 13 in Vancouver or Oct. 14 in Victoria. There is a free information session next week on the CICP as well as on other Government of Canada funding programs.  The session next week also provides an opportunity for businesses to showcase innovation to the federal government.  The information sessions will be held on:

·October 13: Coast Plaza Hotel, 1763 Comox St., Vancouver, BC

·October 14: Vancouver Island Technology Park, #2201 - 4464 Markham St., Victoria, BC

The agenda for the session is as follows:

 Speakers – 9:00am - 10:30        

 ·        Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program - $40 million initiative which aims to help Canadian businesses by testing their innovative products and services within the Government of Canada before taking them to the marketplace.     

·        Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan - $245.5 million worth of activity on federal contaminated sites. This program will enable accelerated action on site assessments and continued program management.

·        Information Technology Services Branch - Government of Canada initiatives, Office of the Chief Technology Officer

·        Scientific Research & Experimental Development Tax Incentive Program - federal tax incentive program, administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), that encourages Canadian businesses of all sizes, and in all sectors to conduct research and development (R&D) in Canada. It is the largest single source of federal government support for industrial R&D.  The SR&ED program gives claimants cash refunds and/or tax credits for their expenditures on eligible R&D work done in Canada.

·        Industrial Research Assistance Program - supports firms to develop technologies and successfully commercialize them in a global marketplace. The Program provides technical and business advisory services and financial assistance to the small and medium-sized enterprises. 

·        Department of Foreign Affairs & International Trade - accessing funding sources from DFAIT in order to attract foreign direct investment.

·        Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council of Canada - new Strategy for Partnerships and Innovation to give Canadian business a competitive edge in today's knowledge-based economy

 Networking & Tradeshow – 10:30am - 12:00  (Coffee Provided)                     

 Seminar – 1:15 - 2:45 pm “How to do Business with the Government of Canada”                          

Learn about the fundamentals of selling goods and services to the Government of Canada. This seminar provides information on how to market to the federal government, how the government does its buying, and how to keep track of opportunities to bid on Canadian government purchases. An introduction to the MERX and SRI systems is included.
