Successful You Small Business BC Awards Recipients Honoured
Snugabell™ Named as Top Finalist in Business Growth Award Category
Coquitlam, BC - The best of BC's entrepreneurial businesses were honoured last night as part
of the Successful You Small Business BC Awards Ceremony & Networking Event.
The event, in its 7th year, sponsored and presented by Small Business BC (SBBC) and the
Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is designed to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the
opportunity to network with more than 300 local business professionals and small business
owners.
Keynote speakers were Larry Finnson and Chris Emery, who shared their story of turning their
grandmother's candy recipe into a successful brand - Clodhoppers Candy.
As reported by The Vancouver Sun newspaper, SBBC consulting CEO George Hunter said in a
statement, "[The awards ceremony] is quickly becoming one of the most important events in
the small business world. It provides a unique opportunity for the small business community
to celebrate entrepreneurial excellence while networking, promoting their businesses and
taking that next step toward making their business dreams become a reality."
Four awards were handed out in the following categories: the CGA of BC Business Concept
Award, the Telus Business Growth Award, TD Canada Trust Small Business Champion Award,
and the WorkSafeBC Company of the Year Award.
The finalists for the Business Concept Award were: RHo Solutions, Victoria; Tod Mountain
Ranch, Heffley Creek; and Growing City, Vancouver (winner).
The finalists for the Business Growth Award were: Mozart School of Music, Vancouver;
Snugabell Mom & Baby Gear, Coquitlam; and My Tech Guys Sales and Service Inc., Comox
(winner).
The Small Business Champion Award finalists were: Forum for Women Entrepreneurs,
Vancouver; and SEEDS Business Development Centre, Surrey (winner).
The Company of the Year Award finalists were: The Root Cellar Village Green Grocer Ltd.,
Victoria; and City-Max.com, Vancouver (winner).
The event was held at the Birks flagship store, 698 West Hastings Street, Vancouver.
