I don't know if anyone else made it out – aside from the Peter Thomson Centre people whom I totally managed to miss, sorry! – but the annual Burnaby Business Excellence Awards last week was a highlight of the business calendar in the city.
It's co-hosted by the City of Burnaby and the Board of Trade, with awards in several different categories and the induction into the Hall of Fame for one business, this year Electronic Arts Canada.
Scott Armstrong, director of the Peter Thomson Centre for Venture Development, had his moment in the spotlight, presenting the award for Small Business of the Year to Simba's Grill, a great local restaurant that offers East African cuisine and has in recent years opened a second location in Vancouver.
